Southland wins PLANET Award Charleston, S.C. (November 14, 2008) – The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) has awarded Southland Landscape Corporation the 2008 Community Service Recognition Award for their work on the Gates House Project in North Charleston, SC.
On October 13, 2007 at 2622 Bennett Yard Road Southland staff members volunteered to landscape a new home as part of the Gates House Project. The project was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Rehabilitation and funding for the project was provided with the help of the City of North Charleston.
In addition to the volunteers who provided labor, Southland vendors Green Acres Turf Farm, Lowcountry Nursery and Carolina Pinestraw donated supplies to help complete the landscape. Students from Garret Academy framed the house with the donations of labor and materials from local businesses.
